My Story
Hi, I am Carly. I am currently a Licensed Professional Counselor for the state of Georgia. I earned my Master’s of Science Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Walden University. I started my career as a counselor working in the Savannah area in 2018. Four years ago, I made the decision to bring my skills back to my hometown in Statesboro. I admire those who show the courage to allow me into their space to be alongside them on their journey. I value this space that we grant ourselves access to possess together while we explore new ways of thinking, expressing, and experiencing.
I utilize person-centered, trauma-informed care, incorporating mindfulness, cognition, the interplay between the conscious and unconscious mind, and sometimes, bringing the past to the present. I aim to facilitate emotional self-expression and awareness of one’s internalized experience and encourage an inner awakening. Presence is the only necessary guide. It is my pleasure to meet people where they are at and experience what that is like together.
I finish off my introduction with a quote taken from Virginia Satir in Richard Simon's "Reaching Out to Life: An Interview with Virginia Satir:"
“When I first begin to work with someone, I am not interested in changing them. I am interested in finding their rhythms, being able to join with them, and helping them go inside to those scary places.”
…It is there where one can decide on what to do with those dragons. Thank you for being brave!
